Tonight has been too amusing not to blog. In stages, then.
(1) Elspeth has developed something of an obsession with elephant skulls, since seeing one at the zoo the other week. She’ll ask for pictures of elephant skulls (thank you, Google Images), and then ask for a “better elephant” – that is, a live one. “He all better now.” She comments on the tusks – “He got long teeth!” Then she moves on and does the same with emus and wombats: skulls, then “better” ones.
(2) Her love of “kissing things better” is growing. I said “Ow!” before as I stood.
“What’s wrong, mum?”
“Nothing, honey, my hip just hurt for a moment.”
So she stood up on tippy-toes and kissed it. “All better now, mum.”
(3) She just randomly started singing, “I don’t, I don’t, I don’t need you!”
(4) She’s been trying to sing Why Does the Sun Shine by They Might Be Giants. If you don’t know the lyrics, I’ll just tell you they’re rather beyond the usual vocabulary of a two year old! So the results have been amusing, although impressively recognisable.
